There exists a million and one ways of doing slaw out there, however this one does it for me,good slaw shouldn’t be too heavy, soupy or gloppy.
I have tried various ways of making slaw before to a point that I actually thought maybe I didn’t like slaw, that was until recently, this recipe brings into it a balance of veggies and salad dressing, not too sweet at the same time not too sour, just perfect,I loved it and the friends I had over had raves on it,it so simple yet so delicious.
I had this as a side for my pulled pork burger and it was just heaven in my mouth, however you can have slaw whichever way you like, you are yet own boss.
INGREDIENTS.
2 carrots(washed&peeled)
1 small to medium head of cabbage
1/2 cup good quality mayonnaise
1/3 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 cup milk
2 tablespoons finely chopped onions
11/2 tablespoon vinegar(I used apple cider)
21/2 teaspoons lemon juice
DIRECTIONS.
I started off by shredding my cabbage head and the carrots set this aside.
Proceed to mix up all our dressing ingredients in a large bowl,be sure to give it a good mix so that all the ingredients and flavours infuse perfectly.
Pour our dressing into the shredded vegetables
Mix this up ensuring the vegetables and the dressing combine well
For the best results, have this covers up and stored in the refrigerator overnight, this will allow for the vegetables to sweat absorbing all the good flavours from our dressing.
I however was short on time & had it right away.It was the best slaw I ever had.
Use fresh vegetables and only the best quality mayonnaise.
ENJOY.
