I prefer having my steak at home as opposed to restaurants which let’s admit can be quite a disappointing experience at times.
This steaks are marinated in a balsamic garlic marinade, pan seared and out comes a juicy succulent steak perfect with a glass of good red wine.
The balsamic vinegar balances the richness of the steak bringing out all the exciting flavours from your steak.
I used 1/4 inch Prime steak cuts for this recipe for quick cooking, however you can use your favorite cut of steak.
1/2 kg steak
1/4 cup balsamic vinegar
1 clove chopped up garlic
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon salt
Mix up all your ingredients in a bowl
Set your steaks inside a ziplock bag, pour in your balsamic marinade inside the bag.
Expel all the air out of the bag and zip it closed.
Massage your steaks gently with the marinade and have it marinate inside a refrigerator overnight.
When ready to cook, take the steaks out of the ziplock bag, shake off any excess marinade and set aside
Grease your pan with a tablespoon of olive oil and heat it up to a high.
You can use any heavy based pan, griddle or your regular nonstick pan.
Cast iron pans are the best for cooking steak
(Non stick pans are poor heat conductors so crank it up to a high for a perfect sear)
Place your steaks on the hot pan
Let this cook undisturbed for 2 minutes then flip over
Cook the under side for 2 more minutes and your steaks are done.
Note that I used 1/4 inch thick steaks so my cooking time is shorter.Adjust your timings with the thickness of your steaks.
Let your steak rest for 5 minutes before serving
