This is a simple Chinese takeout dish, consisting of thin slices of beef,stir-fried with broccoli and then brought together by the sweet and savory oyster sauce.
This is a delicious yet easy to bring together meal,the perfect way to get you eating your broccoli,or any other veggies and get to enjoy them.
This popular Asian takeout dish goes well with either rice or noodles,it can also be a meal on its own for those watching their waistlines and want to keep away from the carbs.
So versatile is this dish that once you get the hang of it you can go ahead and add in any of your favorite vegetables and make it your own
INGREDIENTS
start of by preparing your beef marinade
Marinade Ingredients
300g lean beef steak
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon sugar
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1/2 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1 tablespoon rice wine
1 tablespoon chopped ginger
DIRECTIONS
Cut your beef into thin strip
Mix in all the marinade ingredients
Cover this up with a cling foil and let it marinate for 30minutes.
As the beef is marinating prepare the ingredients for the stir-fry.
Stir-fry Ingredients
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
2 cloves minced garlic
2 tablespoons chopped ginger
2 tablespoons oyster sauce
1/2 red bell pepper
1/2 yellow bell pepper
2 medium sized broccoli
DIRECTIONS
Start by blanching your broccoli in hot salty water for 1 to 2 minutes
Introduce 1 tablespoon vegetable oil into a ‘wok’,if you don’t own one like me,your nonstick pan will do just fine.
Add in your ginger and garlic and stir until fragrant
Go ahead and add in your beef,ensuring that they all have contact with the pan in order to brown evenly and avoid boiling
keep stirring until evenly browned
Introduce your vegetables and oyster sauce and mix well together
Mix two teaspoons cornstarch with 1/4 cup water and pour into the pan.
Mix well until thick and consistent then serve hot.
