Mongolian beef is a sweet savory Chinese dish consisting of crisp strips of beef,stir-fried in a fragrant savory sauce,tossed together with green onions.
This is an easy to whip together meal that goes well with rice or noodles.
Tired of having your beef same old way,day in day out?then this is one for you.so easy to bring together and you will be having the taste of Asia on your plate in less than 40 minutes.
INGREDIENTS
300g beef steak
1/4 cup cornstarch
1 cup vegetable oil
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1/2 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup dark brown sugar
1/2 cup water
5 cloves minced garlic
1 tablespoon minced ginger
Bunch of green onions
DIRECTIONS
Slice the beef steak into bite size thin strips
Toss the beef strips in the cornstarch shaking of any excess from the beef
Set this aside and let it rest for 10 minutes
As the beef is resting,prepare the sauce.In a sauce pan heat up 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
Stir in your garlic and ginger until fragrant,this should take about 30 seconds
Proceed to add in the brown sugar and soy sauce.Bring the mixture to a boil then let simmer for about 10 minutes
When done take it off the heat and set aside.
In a frying pan or wok,pour in 1 cup vegetable oil and heat on a medium high heat until hot
Fry your beef strips in the hot oil until golden brown,do not overcrowd the pan,you can always fry your beef in batches.
Drain the oil from the pan and introduce your fried beef back into it.
Pour in your sauce and let it cook for 5 minutes
Chop up your green onions about two inches in size and into the beef it goes.let it cook for 1 minute then take it out of the heat.
Serve hot,over rice and noodles
Enjoy.
This dark brown sugar… Where can I find it? What’s the substitute?

You can get it in the supermarket its available,you can also use light brown sugar

It does matter,use light soy sauce,low sodium is best

Oh man…been a while since I was on this blog. Looks as delicious as ever. Definitely trying this soon…need to get light soy though. Any fun recipes for pineapples that are non-bake related?

Thanks mate,you can do lots of stuff with a pineapple,you can marinate chicken in them or make a barbecue sauce from them.they are also great on salads too
