A rub is the foundation of anything barbecue,it unleashes richness and depth of flavour that is unmatched.
There are different rubs out there,this is my go to rub whenever I want to throw anything on a barbecue,I usually make it in bulk,its so versatile and you will be coming across it in many of my recipes.
This rub is a perfect balance between sweet,spicy&saltines.It goes perfectly with pork,chicken and beef.This is so easy and cheap to prepare using available pantry staples and can last you well over 3 months stored on your kitchen shelf.
INGREDIENTS
1 cup paprika(smoked paprika if in hand)
1 cup brown sugar
2 tablespoons salt
2 tablespoons garlic powder
2 tablespoons cumin
2 tablespoons freshly ground black pepper
1 tablespoons chilli powder
1 tablespoon onion powder(granulated onions also suffice)
1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
(Italian seasoning is optional,however you will be missing out on a whole new layer of flavour)
Recipe for the Italian seasoning below.
DIRECTIONS
Mix all your ingredients inside a Bowl
using your hand break up all the lumps till evenly mixed
Store this up in an airtight container ready for your next barbecue
