RED WINE ‘MSHIKAKI’

Food presented on skewers does sound appetizing and better looking than when all piled up on a plate.

Whether you hosting a party or having friends over,this can be perfect starters or something for you to snack on as you catch a game over beer with your mates.

This is a simple recipe requiring only a few ingredients,the beef turns out juicy,tender and full of flavor infused from the red wine marinade.

You can do this on an outdoor grill,a grill pan or your kitchen oven under the broiler.

INGREDIENTS

1/2kg beef steak

3 cloves garlic

1 tablespoon ginger

2 thyme sprigs

1/2 cup red dry wine

2 tablespoons brown sugar

1 teaspoon salt

Salt&pepper to taste

DIRECTIONS

Chop up your beef into bite size cubes.

Roughly chop up your ginger and garlic.

In a mixing bowl,mix in your chopped ginger,garlic,bruised thyme,red wine,olive oil,salt&brown sugar.

Mix in your beef cubes ensuring every bit is coated in the wine marinade

Cover this up and marinate for 2 hours or overnight.

When ready to grill,take them out of the refrigerator and let them sit at room temperature for 30 minutes

Skewer your beef and season with salt&pepper.I seasoned mine with my home made Italian seasoning but salt and pepper will do

Heat up your grill,griddle pan or turn up your oven to a broil.lightly grease the grill and place your Mshikakis on the grill or under your broiler

Keep flipping over until done,mine took about 6 to 8 minutes,depending on the heat of your grill and the size of your beef cubes

Use the leftover marinade to baste over the Kabobs as they cook for added flavour.

Key to juicy Mshikakis is cooking under high heat for a shorter period of time.

When cooked take them out and serve them hot,I like mine medium to medium rare
