Spicy hot is how i like my wings,and my mango lime Peri Peri wings hit that spot Just right.It was one of those lazy weekends and the devil in me convinced me to get out of bed on an early Saturday morning and make myself some wings for breakfast.Well let’s let’s just say I didn’t regret any of that as I ended up treating myself to one of the best chicken wings I have had in a while.
I had earlier shared with you the recipe for my Mango Lime Peri Peri Sauce .Fresh spicy and tangy I have been using a lot of it lately and loving it.
If you haven’t made this yet,you don’t know what you are missing out on as this goes well with a variety of dishes.
My Mango Lime Peri Peri Wings are spicy,hot,crisp on the outside with a moist tender inside.I love how the tropical flavours from the mangoes come through in this one as the sweet of the mango balances off the Heat from the chillies,lime adds the much needed tang and freshness making these better than take out chicken wings
Takeout wings to me are overpriced and I mostly end up being dissapointed.Either the portions are too small or the wings are just off,bland coated in I don’t know what sauces they use.
My Mango Lime Peri Peri Wings are easy to bring together,all that needs to be done is marinate them using my Mango Lime Peri Peri Sauce,throw them inside your oven and voila,out comes sinfully delicious chicken wings.Make your marinade sauce beforehand in large batches,store it in your refrigerator for use when you need to throw down something quick and fantastic.
WARNING! do make a bunch of these as they will go fast on the table.

- 5 Large wings/400g
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3 tablespoons mango lime Peri Peri sauce
I used my Home made Mango Lime Peri Sauce that I shared here a while back.In case you missed out on it click on the link below for the recipe
Make a makeshift Mango lime Peri Peri marinade following the recipe below but it wont be as good as my original recipe
- 3 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 tablespoon chopped red onions
- 2 red chilli peppers(more or less according to your heat level)
- 2 garlic cloves
- 2 teaspoona lime juice
- 1 teaspoon oregano
- 1 tablespoon red wine vinegar
- 1/4 cup ripe mango
Puree the above ingredients to make your mango lime peri peri sauce
Wash your wings with clean running water and pat them dry.Season with salt&pepper
Pour over your Mango lime Peri Peri Sauce and using your hand mix well to coat
Cover this with cling foil and marinate in your refrigerator for 30 minutes or overnight.If impatient or in a hurry go ahead and skip the marination.
Take your wings out of your refrigerator and let them come to room temperature.line your baking tray with foil and space out your wings for crisp cooking
5 minutes to cook time,I like to take mine out,slather some more sauce on them,put then on a wire rack and broil them at a high for 5 minutes.This will get you extra crispy skin and char similar to grilled wings.
Serve your wings hot or cold with a salad and side of choice.Don’t forget to also serve up some of our delicious Mango Lime Peri Peri Sauce on the side as a dipping sauce
