I love fries,it’s that side that goes well with anything paired with and I can have them all day, everyday.
Nothing compares to chips drowned in hot bubbly fat and fried to crispy perfection. That’s the ideal fries but have them every day and risk impacting negatively on your health and wellness.Deep fried foods as much as we love and enjoy them do contain trans fats high in cholesterol levels and bad for our hearts.
In my pursuit for healthier fries,I came up with this oven baked sweet potato fries, they are crisp on the outside soft in the inside with all the wonderful sweetness from the sweet potato.Sweet potatoes are notorious for being soggy when baked but worry not,I have you covered on that. This won’t be as crisp as fried ones but what it lacks in crispiness it compensates with sweetness health and a rich clean flavour.
These are simple to prepare and taste great. They will go well as a side with your roasts or burgers. This are healthier than regular potatoes and will be a hit with the kids.
INGREDIENTS
- 3 medium sweet potatoes
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon paprika
DIRECTIONS
Clean and peel your sweet potatoes.Proceed to slice them into equal fry shaped pieces
In a large bowl place in your sweet potato fries, mix in the cornstarch and toss well to combine
Dust this shaking all the excess cornstarch off the potatoes.Discard the excess cornstarch and in a bowl mix in the potatoes with olive oil.Toss to coat all the fries.Proceed to season well with the paprika salt&pepper
Arrange them on a baking tray lined with greased aluminum foil or parchment paper.Do not over crowd the pan and ensure there is enough spacing between them for crisp cooking.Cramming them up leads to steaming instead of crisp baking
Bake this inside a preheated oven at 200β for 15 minutes. After 15 minutes, take them off the oven and flip them.bake them for a further10-15 minutes until crispy and cooked.
The more you flip and toss your fries as they bake the crispier they get.
With sweet potato fries,I also open the oven door slightly for a few seconds after every 10 minutes. This allows for steam to escape and make them even crispier
Serve this with a dip of choice.
Enjoy.
Love that am gonna try that definitely

Truth be told, I tried this, but thicker pieces and without the cornstarch. They came out soggy.
I will definitely be trying this recipe now.
