HONEY BALSMIC BEEF MSHIKAKI 

Been away from home for quite some time and these my mouth watering,honey balsamic beef Mshikaki was my way of welcoming myself back into the kitchen.

I was feeling tired,jet lagged and starving.8 hours seated on a plane has never been a cup of tea,we all know how disappointing plane food can be.

Long story short I needed something that was quick to prepare,sit down,put some food in me as I catch-up on movies.That’s when I decided to bring together my honey Balsamic mshikakis.

These are simple and quick to grill up,no marination required,season your beef with salt and pepper,onto the griddle pan or under your oven it goes,baste them with a honey and vinegar glaze and it’s done.

Easy to prepare,delicious and filling.pair this either with rice,wedges or ugali and you have a meal fit for a king.

This didn’t help with the jet lag,but I for sure felt at home and happy to be back cooking and with no rugby going on in my mind,my off-season clearly has started on a sweet and sour note 

PREP TIME: 7MINS

COOK TIME: 5MINS

TOTAL TIME: 12MINS

INGREDIENTS 

  • 1/2kg beef steak 
  • 2 Tablespoons vegetable oil 
  • Salt and pepper to taste 
  • 1/2 Cup honey 
  • 2 Tablespoons Balsamic vinegar 


DIRECTIONS 

Chop up your beef into bite size cubes.Too small and you risk drying out the meat as it cooks

Season the beef with oil,salt and pepper.Mix well to combine.Be generous with the pepper,beef loves pepper 


Skewer up the beef,if using wooden skewers be sure to soak them up for 30 minutes as they might burn 

Heat up your griddle pan ,open grill or set your oven to broil.Mix together your honey and vinegar for glazing the beef as it grills.

Place the skewers on your greased griddle pan or under your oven broiler.cook each side for 2 minutes then flip over.Start basting with the honey vinegar glaze as you keep turning for 3 more minutes.This will take longer if under the broiler in the oven,be sure to check from time to time for doneness .

Do not over cook beef as it will toughen and become chewy,when done take out of the heat,plate and serve hot.

    Can i get a simple recipe of beef,pork or fish using any of these ingredients that i can get cheaply since am in school e.g soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, Cayenne and black paper and any herb.
